Muscle-car lovers in the Phoenix area have long chosen the Dodge Challenger thanks to its impressive features, high-octane powertrains and excellent interior technology. This model year, the Challenger gains a new trim level that takes the popular features of the Shaker and Hellcat trims and fuses them together. Sporty Features & Equipment

The 2017 Challenger "harkens back to the good old days of the muscle-car era," crows Edmunds, offering a nice level of girth and a hefty road presence that drivers have long craved. The Challenger is also a fully modern roadster that comes with a variety of engine options and trim levels that offer a range of amenities that drivers can customize to their needs.

The base Challenger SXT comes with an exciting level of standard equipment, including 18-inch wheels, Bluetooth connectivity, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, keyless ignition and entry, a 5-inch touchscreen, heated mirrors and a six-speaker sound system.

Move up the trim line and you'll add even more amenities, including everything from upgraded brakes, 20-inch wheels and an active sport exhaust (R/T), to Brembo brakes, sport seats, a black decklid spoiler and a sport-tuned suspension (R/T Scat Pack), to "beefier" front Brembo brakes, an 18-speaker audio system, leather upholstery and a heated sport steering wheel (SRT 392).

Many 2017 Dodge Challenger reviews love the muscle car's iconic SRT Hellcat model, which not only bumps up the car's horsepower, but also adds unique styling, quad exhaust tips, automatic wipers, a sportier suspension and automatic high beams.

On top of these fantastic trims, drivers can also choose models like the Challenger R/T Shaker, which adds more Shaker performance features and a black exterior trim, while the new Challenger T/A gets several Shaker upgrades and unique air intake valves that provide an even smoother ride.

High-Octane Powertrains

Under the hood of the 2017 Dodge Challenger near Phoenix is a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine that generates a very hefty 305 horsepower and 268 lb.-ft. of torque. Higher trims offer more powertrain options, with the R/T getting a 372-hp V8 and the R/T Scat Pack running off of an incredible 6.4L V8 that pushes power to 485 horses.

But it is the SRT Hellcat's raw 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that is the true speed demon, coming in at a unbelievable 707 horsepower and 650 lb.-ft. of torque; one of the best in its class.

Terrific Safety Amenities

Drivers will find several excellent safety features on the 2017 Dodge Challenger, such as advanced multistage front passenger and driver airbags, front seat-mounted airbags, and supplemental front and rear side-curtain airbags. Active front head restraints and specially designed rear and front crumple zones are also standard on the Challenger, while more advanced features like a Parkview rear backup camera, blind-spot monitoring and forward collision warning are available as add-ons.
