Car Oil Types

Varieties of Engine Oil

With the many different brands and types of engine oil on the market, it can seem like a daunting task to find the best kind for your vehicle. The different factors that contribute to your choice can include your style of driving, the car's age, the mileage of the engine, and the temperature of the area you live in. Our certified auto-technicians can assist you and make choosing your oil an easy decision.

Conventional

Conventional oil is the most traditional type of oil produced from the refining process of crude oil. It's the cheapest type and most appropriate for light-duty vehicles that only travel low to moderate distances or those who live in areas where temperatures don't change much between the seasons.

Full Synthetic

Full synthetic motor oil offers the best lubrication, engine performance, and viscosity for most engines. It's the most refined, manufactured in a lab or factory with consistent processes, which contributes to the higher price. It provides better resistance to oxidation, oil sludge, and the thermal breakdown of engine components. All engines that initially take conventional oil can make the switch to synthetic oils without any modifications. It's known to give a noticeable improvement in both gas mileage and performance and lasts longer than conventional motor oil. It also offers the benefit of adaptability to extreme temperatures of hot or cold.

Synthetic Blend

Synthetic blend oil is more expensive than conventional but cheaper than full synthetic. Because it is a mixture of conventional oil, full synthetic oil, and additives, it offers much of the same benefits of full synthetic at a more affordable cost, such as higher oxidation resistance. Because it is a product of synthetic oil, it also lasts longer than conventional oil and can replace conventional oil at any time.

High Mileage

High mileage is a unique type of conventional, fully synthetic, or synthetic blended oil. It's recommended for vehicles that have surpassed 75,000 miles due to its special blend of additives, such as seal conditioner, to prevent leaking. It is the best choice to help address high emissions and the burning of oil.
