What's New for the 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

The Jeep Grand Cherokee has been an icon on American roadways for many years. Heading into 2018, Jeep has made some exciting changes to the Grand Cherokee lineup to improve them even more. To start, a 7-inch high-resolution screen that features Jeeps Uconnect infotainment system with Apple and Android product compatibility is now standard on all Grand Cherokee models. A few select trim packages received updates with the Laredo package upgrading to 17-inch standard wheels and the Summit package adding metal accented trim throughout the interior. The Overland model also added a brown interior to its options.

Jeep also added two new trim packages to the already stunning lineup of Grand Cherokees in 2018. The Sterling edition was added to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Grand Cherokees. The High Altitude package now is available again as well with an excellent appearance, sunroof, and advanced safety features.

Trim Differences

The lineup of 2018 Grand Cherokees come available in 10 different trim packages. Following are brief highlights of each trim package.

Laredo package - the Grand Cherokee's base model comes standard with 17-inch aluminum wheels, cloth bucket seats with black interior and beige interior and the 7-inch Uconnect display.

Altitude package - features 20-inch gloss black aluminum wheels, all season tires, leather seats with suede interior, 8.4-inch Uconnect display, nine-speaker audio system with subwoofer and a power sunroof.

Limited package - features 18-inch gray aluminum wheels with all season tires, leather trimmed bucket seats, 7-inch display with Uconnect system and available blind-spot and cross-path detection monitoring systems.

Sterling package - features 20-inch aluminum wheels, leather-trimmed seats, Uconnect system on an 8.4-inch display and optional upgrades that include a towing package, dual screen Blu-Ray/DVD for the rear, Luxury package, and Active Safety package.

Trailhawk package - features available HEMI V8 engine, 18-inch off road aluminum wheels, leather/suede seating, Uconnect on an 8.4-inch display and available packages to add on including luxury, dual screen DVD/Blu-Ray, and Active Safety.

Overland package - features 20-inch tech gray aluminum wheels, leather-trimmed seats, 8.4-inch display with Uconnect and extra available kits for towing, dual screen entertainment, interior metal, active safety and interior chrome.

Summit package - features 20-inch aluminum wheels, an interior metal package with metal trim, a premium audio system from Harmon Kardon with 19 speakers, available leather-wrapped interior package and available Quadra-Drive II 4x4 system.

High Altitude package - features standard 20-inch granite aluminum wheels with performance tires, leather-trimmed bucket seats, and the Harman Kardon premium sound system with 19 speakers throughout the vehicle.

SRT package - comes standard in the 6.4-liter HEMI V8 and features Bilstein Active Suspension, 20-inch carbon wheels, leather with SRT perforate suede seats and the Uconnect system on 8.4-inch screen with navigation. Additional available packages include towing, dual-screen entertainment for the rear, signature leather-wrapped interior, and high-performance audio.

Trackhawk package - the high end of the Grand Cherokee's, the Trackhawk rides on the Supercharged V8 engine and features Bilstein Competition Suspension, 20-inch forged wheels, suede performance seats, Uconnect with navigation on the 8.4-inch display screen. Additional packages include towing, dual-screen rear entertainment, signature leather-wrapped interior, and high-performance audio.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Engine & Transmission

2018 Jeep Grand CherokeeThe 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles come available to the consumer in three engine options. The base motor is the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 from Jeep that features 295 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft. of torque. Drivers that bump up the Limited, Trailhawk, Overland and Summit models in 4x4 packages get the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 engine that puts out 360 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. The Grand Cherokee SRT sports the 6.4-liter HEMI SRT V8 with Eco Mode and this motor revs at 475 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. Last, drivers that opt for the Trackhawk get to feel the power of the Supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 that boasts 707 horsepower and 645-lb.-ft. of torque.

In-Demand Safety Features

2018 Jeep Grand CherokeeJeep prides itself on safety, and that is evident in the lineup of Grand Cherokees in 2018. The front and rear crumple zones are designed to redirect energy from a crash away from the occupants of the vehicle. The Grand Cherokees also feature forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and park assist with a backup camera.
