What's New for the 2019 Dodge Charger?

The Dodge Charger has undergone a variety of changes since its debut in 1966. Originally developed as a two-door coupe, the Dodge Charger now exists as one of the most high-performing sedans on the automotive market. Dodge has made several revisions to the Dodge Charger for 2019. The new Charger has updates to its exterior, interior, and overall features. Additionally, the trims of the 2019 Charger have been given new and improved names.

The 2019 Dodge Charger is available in several different trims. A total of 5 trims and 6 configurations exist for the 2019 Charger. This diversity not only gives variety for customers shopping within a range of prices but also satisfies customers who have varying performance requirements. While the Charger SXT, Charger GT, Charger R/T, Charger R/T Scat Pack, and Charger Hellcat all utilize a rear-wheel drive platform, there is an all-wheel drive variant that is existent for the Charger SXT.

There are several features that are included standard for the 2019 Dodge Charger. Drivers can connect their devices to the Uconnect infotainment system through Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and four different USB ports. The infotainment system can be controlled through voice recognition or through the system's 7-inch touch screen display. A rearview camera and a push-button start system are also included standard for the 2019 Charger.

Customers can opt to upgrade their 2019 Dodge Charger through a number of additional features that Dodge has to offer. The display of the Uconnect infotainment system can be upgraded to a larger 8.4-inch touch screen. Additionally, customers have an additional choice between three different audio systems. HD Radio can also be added to the system as an option.

How Well does the 2019 Dodge Charger Perform?

The Charger SXT and Charger GT are powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine while the Charger R/T utilizes a 5.7-liter V8 engine. The Charger R/T Scat Pack houses a 6.4-liter V8 engine and the infamous Charger Hellcat is home to a 6.2-liter V8 engine. Power figures range between 292 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque to 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque. Each of the 2019 Charge trims connects power to the wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Charger Hellcat is competitive with a variety of sport cars on the market and has a speedometer that lists speeds up to 200 miles per hour.

Compared to 2018 models, the 2019 Dodge Charger has an improved fuel economy. The smaller 3.6-liter V6 engine is capable of achieving an EPA estimated 19 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway. The largest, and most powerful, of the engines achieves an estimated 13 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon of the highway.
