When Will Jeep Have An Electric Vehicle?

Jeep plans to soon begin developing its first-ever fully electric SUV. The Jeep Wrangler Magneto could arrive as early as 2024. Here's what we currently know about this future model.

An All-Electric Adventure Machine

The Jeep Wrangler Magneto will feature an all-electric powertrain. It's rated to crank out an estimated 285 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. By comparison, the Wrangler's current Pentastar V6 engine develops 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This means drivers can go green without sacrificing a bit of performance. Expect a competitive 0-60 mph time of around 6.8 seconds. Unlike most EVs, the Wrangler Magneto will be available with a manual transmission.

Made to Handle the Rough Backcountry

Like every Wrangler model, the Wrangler Magneto will boast legendary off-road capabilities. According to the head of Jeep design, the SUV will be taken to Jeep's natural testing ground in Moab. The tough environmental conditions will enable the engineering team to evaluate the vehicle's durability. A slew of rugged features will come equipped on the Wrangler Magneto, including robust skid plates and a lifted suspension with trail-tuned shock absorbers. Waterproofing also enables drivers to cross streams without worrying about damaging the SUV's various electrical equipment.

Versatile Design

Not only does this next-generation electric SUV produce zero emissions, but it also has a versatile design. The lack of a traditional gasoline engine enables Jeep to add a front trunk, allowing travelers to pack extra cargo. A shorter hood of the Wrangler Magneto will also help promote better trail visibility.
