Two of the most popular U.S. presidents have come together in two new ads for the Chrysler 200 and 300. In the ads, President Jed Bartlett and President Thomas J. Whitmore discuss how fantastic the sedans really are.
TV and movie fans will recognize both Bartlett and Whitmore as the inspirational leaders on the “West Wing” and “Independence Day.” Actors Martin Sheen and Bill Pullman play Bartlett and Whitmore, respectively. In Aaron Sorkin’s hit TV show, Bartlett embodied a wise and kind version of the presidency, while Whitmore personified the rousing leader who defeated an alien invasion.
In Chrysler’s two new commercials, both fictional presidents come once again to the podium, or in this case the front seat of a new Chrysler, to highlight the many fun and luxurious features available on the popular sedans.
"[These ads] convey the state-of-the-art technology, key safety features, high grade interiors and beautiful design while staying consistent with the Chrysler brand's overarching message brought forward since 'Imported from Detroit," said Olivier Francois, Chief Marketing Officer, FCA Global. "We salute hard-working American men and women, and believe they have the right to drive a car they can feel proud to have in their driveway."
The spots are very amusing as they poke fun at the Americanness of it all and the very earnest characters both men portrayed. Take a look at the first commercial, "American-est" above and the next ad ” Swerve" below to see these beloved world leaders in action once more!
