Exciting news has just come from Ram Truck. This month, the automaker announced that it will be releasing a new model for its extremely popular Ram 1500 light-duty pickup truck. This new model – dubbed “Rebel” – is an alternative option for truck shoppers in Phoenix who want more aggressive features on their Ram 1500.
The truck debuted at this month’s Detroit Auto Show in an extravagant press conference that featured the new pickup on a revolving stage. Ram says the new model will sport the off-road look of the brand’s heavy-duty Power Wagon, but at light-duty price tag. Ram President Bob Hegbloom said the 1500 Rebel will have several exciting new features, including a higher stance, large aluminum wheels, class-exclusive dual exhaust and redesigned fascias. The truck will also have blacked-out accessories and badging.
A big change coming to the Rebel is its new grille that no longer features Ram’s traditional cross-hair design. Though not a permanent move on the part of Ram, the automaker wanted to separate the Rebel from its 1500 cousins. The grille will also be absent Ram’s logo, with only the words “RAM” used on the truck’s front grille and tailgate.
"We really wanted to take what we did in the front and then extend upon it to the back," said Greg Howell, chief of Ram exterior design. "The Ram logo is very prominent on the back. There's no mistaking what this truck is anymore."
The truck’s interior features Radar Red and Black upholstery with fabric inserts. It also has a new center console design and a new media storage device. Under the hood, look for the Ram 1500 Rebel to be powered by either a 305 hp 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine or an optional 395 hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8 enigne.
The 1500 Rebel model should be coming to Airpark this spring. While we wait, be sure to check out our current lineup of the 2015 Ram 1500 in Phoenix.
