The new Jeep Cherokee was recently given the title of the Northwest Outdoor activity vehicle for this year by the NWAPA, a new accomplishment for the off road monster. Besides that, it was also given an honorable mention at the 20th Annual NWAPA (Northwest Automotive Press Association) Mudfest while being declared the winner of the premium standard utility class segment as well as the compact utility class. The declaration was made taking into account the performance, comfort and value for money that the Cherokee offered.

Over a panel of 20 members from the NWAPA was present at the event, all of whom unanimously voted the Cherokee as the vehicle of the year. The vehicle, along with 23 others, was tested for two days on a multiple terrain track which consisted of paved, off road and autocross routes. The testing was done at the DirtFish Rally School in Snoqualmie, Wash, which was more than 300 acres in area. The overall class winner was selected from the 5 sub-classes.

The co-chair of Mudfest, Ryan Douthit, explained that the exceptional performance of the Jeep along with the off road capability, EPA rating and features compelled them to reach this decision. Jeep’s CEO stated that they were very pleased that members of the NWAPA recognized the model for its legendary off road capability, handling, comfort and wide array of features, which includes over 65 safety features.

The American manufacturer has even more good news, as sales were at an all time high throughout the months of April and May. A 46% percent increase was recorded in terms of sales throughout these two months, which is the highest growth ever throughout Jeep’s 73 year history.
